  1. Install Apple's Xcode tools. The current version is 3.1.
  2. If you don't have it, you can download it from developer.apple.com. It is rough 1GB of downloading and requires a free login.
  3. Then, show the package contents (ctrl-click on the application) of Max, go to Contents/Frameworks and copy the four framework folders to /Library/Frameworks
  4. Read the readme.txt in /Tools of your jamoma root folder for further instructions.

Windows

  1. Go to www.cygwin.com
  2. Click the "install now" icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
  3. Choose to install from the internet.
  4. When asked, choose to install for "All Users" and "Unix/binary" default text file type.
  5. When it asks to select packages to install, make sure that you install everything in the "Devel" and "Interpreters" categories. (click on the 'Default' next to it until is says 'Install'). Leave everything else as the default.
  6. Click the "Next" button at the bottom to start the installation. Warning -- it will take a long time!
  7. When you are done, it is important to keep the "setup.exe" program(!) so that you can later add or update packages. (Instructions for how to actually compile with GCC on windows will be here when we actually get it to happen.)
